Job Description
Summary/Objective

Magellan International School (MIS) in Austin, Texas, has an opening for a part-time Preschool Yoga Teacher. This role will lead play-based, imaginative movement classes that help young children develop body awareness, emotional regulation, and mindfulness. It involves translating traditional yoga poses into fun, animal-themed adventures using storytelling, music, and interactive games to keep energetic preschoolers engaged.

Essential Functions

  • Design and execute dynamic, age-appropriate yoga lesson plans using themes, music, and props.

  • Teach fundamental yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques by relating them to animals, nature, and storytelling.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and highly engaging environment.

  • Adapt lessons on the fly to match the energy and behavioral dynamics of preschool-aged children.

  • Help young learners develop physical coordination, focus, and early mindfulness or emotional resilience skills.

  • Participate in community engagement efforts & school initiatives to support the school’s growth.

Performs other duties as assigned, which may change at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with young children

  • Yoga Teacher Training, CPR and First Aid certification

Work Environment

This job operates in a classroom environment. This position requires lifting, bending, stretching, standing, sitting on the floor, and stooping. It requires lifting light equipment (such as yoga mats and props). Work is performed indoors and outdoors. The person in this role must physically demonstrate poses dynamically throughout the classes.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

“Core” work hours:

  • 8:00 am - 10:30am from Monday to Fridays

  • Availability during occasional nights and weekend events.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position. If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification form, I-9. You will be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States.
