Job Description

COMPANY NAME:
CONFIDENTIAL ROLE

POSITION TILE TITLE:
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - Warehouse

SCHEDULE
: [Required Sundays] Monday - Friday

LOCATION:
MEMPHIS, TN

We’re looking for a hands-on operational leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves alongside the team. Someone with a startup mentality or experience helping build and scale operations from the ground up would be an excellent fit for this role. This is not a sit-behind-the-desk management position — we need a leader who is comfortable being on the warehouse floor, jumping in where needed, even helping move boxes when operations demand it, while driving accountability and performance across the facility.

This opportunity is ideal for someone looking for a challenge and excited by the opportunity to help lead, improve, and grow a developing operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control

  • Oversee transportation and driver operations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment while enforcing OSHA and company safety standards

  • Monitor inventory accuracy and workflow efficiency within a non-racked warehouse environment

  • Hire, train, coach, and develop employees to support operational success and team growth

  • Address employee performance concerns while fostering accountability and team development

  • Implement and maintain SOPs while continuously identifying opportunities for operational improvements

  • Track KPIs, analyze operational performance, and drive productivity and cost-saving initiatives

  • Manage warehouse budgets and support overall facility performance

  • Partner with offsite leadership while independently owning day-to-day operations at the local facility

  • Remain accessible after hours when business needs require support

  • Lead from the floor by actively supporting warehouse teams in day-to-day operations

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as the senior leader of a small distribution center OR 3+ years leading a department within a multifunctional distribution center

  • Startup, growth-stage, or highly adaptable operational experience strongly preferred

  • Experience in warehouse, transportation, and inventory operations preferred; strong experience in at least two areas required

  • Proven ability to lead in a hands-on environment and work alongside warehouse teams when needed

  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities and processes may evolve quickly

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience improving operational performance and implementing SOPs

  • Comfortable working independently while reporting to offsite leadership

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning Google-based systems and warehouse technology

  • Flexible schedule with the ability to support operations after hours when needed
