Job Description

About Overland AI:

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.

Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors, including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.

Practice Questions

💡Technical Questions (3)
  • 1.How would you design a React and TypeScript architecture to handle high-frequency, real-time telemetry data from autonomous vehicles without freezing the OverWatch C2 UI?
  • 2.Describe your approach to integrating a complex backend API into a React/TypeScript application. How do you handle asynchronous data flows and type safety?
  • 3.How do you translate a designer's mockup into a polished, reusable React component while ensuring it aligns with an established design system?
🎯Behavioral Questions (3)
  • 1.Tell me about a time you had to iterate rapidly on a UI feature based on direct user feedback. How did you manage the quick turnaround while maintaining code quality?
  • 2.Describe a situation where you had to work closely with a UX designer to solve a difficult interface problem. How did you handle disagreements or technical constraints?
  • 3.Give an example of a time you contributed to improving the architectural patterns or best practices in a frontend codebase.
🧩Situational Questions (2)
  • 1.You are observing a field exercise with military users, and you notice they are struggling to quickly command multiple autonomous vehicles simultaneously using the OverWatch interface. The exercise ends tomorrow. What do you do?
  • 2.The backend team just switched the C2 data feed from standard REST APIs to an event-driven MQTT architecture. Your UI is currently built for request-response patterns. How do you approach this transition?
