About the role

Eastern Health is seeking passionate and motivated Grade 2 Social Workers to join our Allied Health teams across physical health settings following some exciting service expansions. With opportunities available in part-time, casual (weekday) and full-time capacities, you’ll provide high-quality, evidence-based Social Work care to diverse patient groups while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes for patients and families.

In this role, you’ll also have the opportunity to supervise and support Grade 1 staff, Allied Health Assistants, and students, while contributing to the ongoing development of Social Work services alongside senior clinicians. You’ll be encouraged to participate in service improvement and research initiatives led by our Grade 3 and Grade 4 Clinical Leads, helping shape the future of Social Work at Eastern Health.

This is not a Mental Health Social Work role. We do not currently have vacancy in this area.

The current opportunities:

Maroondah

  • Full-time, General Medicine role (12 months)

  • Part-time: 10 hours/fortnight in Acute Care of the Older Person

  • Weekend hours, Acute Aged Medical unit

  • Part Time: 19 hours per fortnight in Surgery

Peter James Centre

  • Full-time, Geriatric Evaluation and Management role (12 months)

Angliss

  • Full-time, ongoing general medicine/ surgery

  • Part Time: 20 hours per fortnight in Geriatric Evaluation management (12 months)

Box Hill

  • Part-time, 32 hours/fortnight: General Medicine (Thursday & Friday)

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the AASW

  • Previous Social Work experience (at least 3 years)

  • Desirable to have healthcare experience

  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience

  • A strong commitment to high quality care

  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

*Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.*
