Overview

We’re seeking a strategic and data-driven Procurement Manager to lead logistics procurement initiatives and position procurement as a competitive advantage within the transportation and logistics network. This role focuses on network development, optimization, and strategic carrier management, using analytics and innovative tools to drive measurable cost savings, operational efficiency, and strong carrier partnerships.

The ideal candidate brings deep logistics procurement expertise, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to support pricing, optimization, and long-term growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic logistics procurement initiatives to deliver measurable cost savings and margin improvement by reducing PT spend

  • Build, manage, and strengthen carrier relationships to ensure capacity, service quality, and long-term partnerships

  • Develop and implement route optimization strategies to maximize carrier utilization and network efficiency

  • Expand carrier footprint to win spot bids and rebid previously lost opportunities

  • Launch and oversee carrier recognition and performance programs

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage carrier bid optimization technology

  • Archive and analyze historical bid data to generate actionable procurement insights

  • Map carrier density by lane and zip code to identify growth opportunities and network gaps

  • Identify and improve low-yield lanes through data-driven analysis

  • Partner closely with pricing leadership to support informed decision-making

  • Benchmark and implement best practices across procurement operations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and maintaining carrier relationships within logistics or transportation environments

  • Strong background in pricing negotiation, route optimization, and yield analysis

  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement and transportation management principles

  • Strategic, innovative thinker with demonstrated ability to design and implement solutions that improve operational performance

Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of carrier management, route optimization, and yield analysis

  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven decision-making approach

  • Experience using procurement technology and carrier bid optimization tools

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of three years of related logistics or procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
