Description
Williams & Connolly LLP, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Patent Paralegal. This position will work closely with the IP practice group and Senior Paralegals. Our unique single office location offers the stage to foster close mentoring relationships and opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate is someone with exposure to legal processes and practice-group specific procedures, that would like the opportunity to build a career with well-respected, top professional trial teams. Under the direction of the Chief Paralegal Services Officer, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing paralegal support to attorneys, senior paralegals and case managers through all phases of litigation;

  • Managing all case materials, including all electronic files and database applications;

  • Obtaining from, or filing materials with, federal and local courts and agencies;

  • Performing factual research;

  • Tracking the course of information and case materials;

  • Coordinating with outside vendors and service providers; and

  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, trials and arbitrations, as well as ensuring that logistics, exhibits, filings and deadlines are proactively managed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of litigation experience.

  • Familiarity with searching techniques and strategies in developing, collecting and organizing patent-related resources and references;

  • Knowledge of proceedings before the P.T.A.B preferred;

  • Experience with District Court proceedings in Hatch-Waxman cases preferred;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; and

  • Experience multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word). Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and litigation support applications such as Relativity, CaseMap, and Case Notebook is preferred.

The working hours for this position are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays is required. After successfully completing the introductory period, the candidate will be eligible to work the department's approved hybrid schedule.

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following:

  • Prolonged periods using a sit-to-stand desk and working on a computer.

  • Repetitive movements, including typing on a keyboard and using a mouse.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.

  • Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

This is a non-exempt position. The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $43.58 - $51.28, which equates to $85,000 - $100,000 on an annual basis based when working the standard 1,950-hour annual work schedule. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
