Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its growing intellectual property practice on either a full-time or part-time exclusive basis.
The role will focus primarily on patent application drafting and patent prosecution for sophisticated technology clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with substantial experience independently managing patent portfolios and preparing high-quality patent applications.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated patent professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment while handling cutting-edge technologies with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
- Draft patent applications for advanced technology innovations
- Respond to Office Actions and communicate with the USPTO
- Manage patent prosecution matters with minimal supervision
- Collaborate with inventors, engineering teams, and technology clients
- Analyze technical inventions and translate them into strong patent protection strategies
- Maintain organized docket and workflow management
- Provide practical and strategic IP guidance to clients
- Support ongoing client relationships through responsive communication and high-quality work product
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in: Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline
- Registered Patent Attorney or Patent Agent preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of recent patent prosecution and patent drafting experience
- Strong experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications independently
- Experience in one or more of the following technical areas is preferred:
- semiconductors
- AI/ML
- electrical systems/circuitry
- robotics
- displays
- sensors
- optics
- wireless communication systems
- automotive technology
- software systems
- biometrics
- medical systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and docket management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Positive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset
Ideal Candidate
- Experienced Patent Attorney or Agent with strong patent drafting and prosecution capabilities
- Technical background in electrical engineering, physics, or related technologies
