Casco Products Corporation, a global Tier One electronics and electromechanical supplier to the automotive industry, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Novi, Michigan.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer’s main job responsibilities will include:

  • Change management of mechanical components of Casco’s products.

  • Leading the design and development of the mechanical enclosures for Casco’s products, while maintaining timing, performance and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/update CAD models, costed mechanical BOMs and drawings.

  • Develop detailed mechanical design that meet timing, performance and cost targets.

  • Verify design prior to tooling kick off as much as possible by performing engineering calculations, analysis, mock ups, simulations, etc.

  • Prepare for and participate in design review meetings.

  • Support technical presentations/discussions with customers.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree (3.0 GPA minimum).

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in automotive field, especially in engineering design environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Knowledge in materials selection (plastic, steel, and aluminum).

  • Strong foundation in machine elements design and failures.

  • Excellent organizational skills, communication proficiency, decision making capability, and problem solving/analysis.

  • Professional and cooperative demeanor.

  • Reliable, self-directed, and capable of working independently, with the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously and use sound judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Proactive, team-oriented person who can anticipate needs, take initiative with excellent follow-through.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of automotive standards (SAE, DIN, ISO, and the like).

  • Knowledge of Automotive Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP).

  • Strong 3D modeling capability and familiarity in 2D creation/modification in Catia V5.

  • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis techniques.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

  • Occasional travel may be required (international and/or domestic).
