Full-Stack Engineer

Salary
$225K–$300K + Equity

Company Description
Well-funded AI orchestration startup

Job Description
You will build the core infrastructure for an AI agent platform that automates complex operations for small teams. Using TypeScript, React, and Node.js, you will own features end-to-end—from natural language workflows to high-performance UIs. This role is perfect for engineers who crave high agency and want to ship product daily.

Location
New York, USA

Why this role is remarkable

  • Shape the core product of a high-growth AI startup at an early stage where your technical decisions define the architecture.

  • Join an elite, fast-moving team backed by top-tier VCs with a zero-bureaucracy, shipping-focused engineering culture.

  • Work at the cutting edge of AI agent orchestration, building tools that aggressively leverage LLMs and autonomous workflows.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end features across a React/Next.js frontend and Node.js/PostgreSQL backend.

  • Design and implement AI agent "Flows" and integrations that allow users to automate complex business tasks via natural language.

  • Collaborate directly with the founder to iterate on product specs, arguing for the best technical approaches to maintain high quality.

The ideal candidate

  • 3–5 years of professional experience with strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

  • Proven track record of shipping consumer or B2B products from concept to production in high-growth environments.

  • Highly autonomous mindset with the ability to solve ambiguous problems and "Figure It Out" without detailed specs.

Practice Questions

💡Technical Questions (3)
  • 1.How would you design the backend architecture for an AI agent 'Flow' that takes natural language input from a user, processes it through an LLM, and executes a multi-step business operation in PostgreSQL?
  • 2.When building a highly interactive React/Next.js UI for real-time AI workflow statuses, how do you ensure the frontend remains performant and responsive?
  • 3.Given that this role involves building integrations for autonomous workflows, how do you handle type safety and error management in a full-stack TypeScript monorepo communicating with unpredictable LLM outputs?
🎯Behavioral Questions (3)
  • 1.Tell me about a time you had to build a feature from concept to production with very little direction or detailed specs.
  • 2.Describe a situation where you had to argue for a specific technical approach against a founder or product manager to maintain product quality.
  • 3.Give me an example of a time you worked on a product that required aggressive iteration and shipping daily. How did you maintain your velocity and code quality?
🧩Situational Questions (2)
  • 1.You are tasked with building a new AI agent integration, but the third-party API documentation is incomplete and the founder wants a demo by tomorrow. How do you approach this?
  • 2.A user reports that their AI workflow 'Flow' executed an incorrect action that modified critical data in PostgreSQL, but the logs don't clearly show why the LLM made that decision. How do you handle this?
