About the Job:
Peak Energy is looking for a Facilities Engineer to join our team and execute tasks within and around our Burlingame, CA facility supporting the physical plant, infrastructure, and overall company goals. This role will report to the Manager of Facilities, and the primary hours of operation will focus on supporting day to day prototype development activities.

In addition to supporting the Burlingame site, this individual will play a key role in supporting the build out, expansion, and operational readiness of Peak Energy's future manufacturing facility in Sacramento. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish and scale facility operations in a fast paced, high growth manufacturing environment.

As a Facilities Engineer, you will leverage your advanced background in the trades or an engineering discipline to execute tasks that make your fellow colleagues work effort safer, easier, and generally more effective. This position will own the Peak Energy Burlingame Facility site maintenance, utilities (electrical, compressed air, HVAC and exhaust, specialty gases, fire protection systems), and building envelope and architectural components (doors, roof, exterior grounds, office and kitchen FFE).

You will also act as primary site contact for external regulatory or AHJ inspections as well as support daily site operational activities including receiving and movement/handling of inbound materials, onsite hosting/support of process equipment vendor specialists, championing all safety regulations and a robust onsite safety culture, and general effectiveness of building operations.

You will execute building upgrade projects including utility upgrade/relocation for operations equipment installation, maintenance of site standards for the office, manufacturing, or facility exterior, and scheduled replacement for aged infrastructure obsolescence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist or lead in the installation, operation, and maintenance of new and existing facilities utilities, building or production support equipment and physical plant assets and infrastructure.

  • Operate as a generalist in whatever is needed within the facility, whether that be contributing to daily prototype production, being an assembly technician, driving a forklift, fixing plumbing, etc.

  • Develop a schedule and keep track of inspection and maintenance tasks for all equipment and services using software or in-house scheduling tools.

  • Coordinate preventive and repair maintenance for all Peak Energy assets.

  • Contribute toward the development of written procedures, standardize on accepted and recognized good practices, and required support tooling for Peak Facility team success.

  • Supports general operations tasks including material handling for inbound and outbound materials utilizing a powered industrial forklift, truck, pallet jack, hand cart, or other suitable means.

  • Uses broad skillset to fix issues within the facility and only, if necessary, manage outside contractors for any specialty needs.

  • Attends site production meetings; identifies and executes project work to support evolving production needs in the timelines required for success of the product development or manufacture schedule.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (or equivalent trade or craftwork experience) in a technical discipline and 5+ years of facility maintenance experience preferably in a lab, technology or manufacturing.

  • Forklift operator certification or ability to achieve within 30 days.

  • Knowledge of industry safety and equipment reliability best practices.

  • General maintenance/repair/troubleshooting experience with utility and infrastructure support equipment such as pumps, compressors, chillers, inert gas distribution, HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution/implementation.

  • Structured problem‐solving and analytical skills.

  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast‐paced environment.

  • Ability to work and complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Must be responsible and self‐motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation.

  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy electrical experience working around high power medium voltage systems

  • NFPA70e certification preferred

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills. Our competitive benefits package includes:
