Purpose of Position:

The Director of Sales – Convenience Channel
is a sales leadership role accountable for driving revenue growth and profitability across North America in the fast-moving convenience sector. This position owns strategic relationships with national convenience store chains, wholesalers, and distributors while leading day-to day execution in a lean, high-impact environment

The ideal candidate shall have experience in the fresh produce industry, preferably with fresh cut fruit. The Director owns and grows relationships with national convenience retailers and wholesalers (e.g., Core-Mark, McLane), ensuring strong collaboration, new distribution gains, and promotional success. The role is high-impact, requiring strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must be able to respond appropriately to customer issues and requests while successfully navigating the daily activities and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Account Management:

Own and expand relationships with key C-Store retailers and wholesalers, negotiating agreements, pricing, trade programs, and promotional support.
  • Business Resolution:

Ability to work closely with our national network of processing facilities and distribution centers on any issues or opportunities pertaining to Convenience Store customers.
  • Product Launches

: Lead new product introductions—especially in fresh cut fruit—partnering with marketing, new product development, supply chain, and category teams to drive successful on time launches.
  • Sales Strategy:

Develop and execute tailored sales strategies to increase brand visibility, velocity, and market share across national and regional partners.
  • Market Expansion:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including untapped banners and geographies within the convenience channel.
  • Data-Driven Decisions:

Monitor category and competitive trends using syndicated data (e.g., Circana) to build new strategies, enhance or modify existing strategy, optimize assortments, to improve merchandising position in-store.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work with internal teams on forecasts, product flow, marketing activation, new product development, service metric reporting and retail execution.
  • Payment Resolution:

Work with internal and external departments to resolve issues (i.e. payment deductions, service level disputes, quality concerns, etc.) and be able to report on resolution.
  • Strong Communication:

Communicate with customers on all aspects of orders processed; production, documents required, final delivery and billing information.

Minimum Skills Required

  • Must be a team player with a can-do attitude able to manage multiple, sometimes competing priorities

  • Experience working with national convenience stores, foodservice distributors, wholesalers, and retailers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to work with customers and team members at all levels

  • Must be able to develop new business while continuing to manage accounts

  • Proven ability to introduce and scale new products, preferably in fresh cut segment

  • Strong negotiation, forecasting, and trade management skills.

  • General understanding of receivables and deductions

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in a related field) from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) – SAP and Power BI

  • 10+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the fresh produce industry
