Job Description

Insurance Coverage Attorney

Garden City, NY (Hybrid)

$150,000 – $210,000

Distinct are partnering with a highly regarded mid-sized New York law firm that is continuing to expand its Insurance Coverage practice. The team handles sophisticated, high-exposure coverage matters across a broad range of policies, including general liability, D&O, E&O, employment practices, professional liability, and commercial property & casualty.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working on complex legal issues and wants to be part of a collaborative, well-respected team where their work will have real visibility and impact. The role offers exposure to a mix of coverage analysis, litigation, and client advisory work in an area of law that continues to evolve quickly.

The firm is looking to speak with attorneys who have between 2–8 years of experience within insurance coverage and policy analysis, alongside a strong understanding of policy interpretation and insurance law principles. You should feel confident handling matters from inception through trial, including experience within both state and federal courts, and be comfortable drafting pleadings, motions, and detailed coverage opinions. Strong communication skills are important, as the role involves working closely with clients, advising on nuanced coverage issues, and playing an active role in litigation strategy, negotiations, and hearings.

Admission to the New York and/or New Jersey Bar is required, with Pennsylvania admission considered a plus.

What really makes this opportunity stand out is the balance the firm offers — sophisticated work and strong career development within a supportive environment, but without the bureaucracy and hierarchy often associated with larger firms.

If you’d be interested in a confidential conversation, please apply with an updated resume and we can discuss the opportunity in more detail.

Distinct also partner with a range of firms across the East Coast, so if you’re exploring the legal market more broadly, feel free to get in touch and we’d be happy to discuss other opportunities aligned with your background and goals.
