Job Description

Job Summary

 Support the Assistant Plant Controller in financial and cost accounting functions. Work with internal and external financial reporting, and analysis of manufacturing and financial results for a large manufacturing company.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reconciling and preparing journal entries in areas including but not limited to payroll, inventory, inter-company and eliminations, as well as completing and documenting the corresponding account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Participate in monthly accounting closing activities and reconciliations, investigate unusual or unexpected results and resolve discrepancies

  • Routinely monitor daily shipping and invoicing activity which is an internal control to verify all shipments have been invoiced timely, in the correct accounting period and for reasonable amounts.

  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules

  • Identify opportunities and participate in implementing improvements in business or accounting processes and controls

  • Key team member involved with planning, organizing, coordinating and participating in the annual physical inventory and reconciliations

  • Prepare schedules and provide support for financial audits and other routine reporting requirements

  • Work independently or assist other employees in investigating and handling new or unusual accounting related transactions and solving issues

  • Assist or lead in analysis, special projects or other work as requested

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field

  • 2 - 5+ years of accounting experience, including some in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, data analysis, and pivot tables, along with other Microsoft
