Job Description

Happy Dragon Early Intervention is seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial operations for our Early Intervention, preschool, and daycare programs across NYC.

The ideal candidate will oversee all daily accounting functions, ensuring accurate DOE/Medicaid billing and reimbursement, strict compliance, and close collaboration with company leadership and program teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full accounting cycle: AP/AR, General Ledger, and monthly reconciliations.

  • Process and track EI and CPSE (Medicaid/DOE) billing; ensure timely and accurate payment reconciliation.

  • Prepare and maintain financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Coordinate payroll and related benefits accounting.

  • Support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance (DOE/Medicaid).

  • Assist with financial planning for program expansion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in healthcare, education, or nonprofit strongly preferred.

  • CPA preferred, but not required.

  • Familiarity with Medicaid/DOE billing and proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel.

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
